Extra Space Storage – Athens | Office Conversion & Site Improvements

BuildLux was contracted to create a fully functional office within an existing storage facility that previously lacked one. Our scope included both interior renovation and exterior site modifications to meet commercial standards. From planning to completion, every phase was handled with precision to ensure code compliance, accessibility, and long-term reliability.

Scope of Work

The team remodeled two adjacent storage units, constructing a new office complete with electrical service, plumbing, and HVAC rough-ins. We installed over 400 ft of sewer line tied to the city system and 100 ft of clean-water piping, ensuring dependable utility connections. Exterior work included ADA-compliant parking spaces, new curbing, preferred-employee parking, and fresh asphalt in affected zones to restore surface integrity.

Interior Renovation & Utility Integration

‍Inside the converted units, BuildLux installed structural framing, insulation, drywall, and finishes to match Extra Space Storage design standards. Electrical wiring and fixtures were routed for efficient power distribution, and new sewer and water lines were coordinated beneath the slab and through existing infrastructure. The result was a seamless integration of new systems within a tight working corridor surrounded by active storage tenants.

Project Insight

‍This project demonstrates BuildLux’s capability to manage complex retrofits within occupied commercial properties. By combining detailed planning, civil utility expertise, and precise interior construction, we delivered a functional, compliant, and modern office that now serves as the operational hub of the Athens facility.
